Club Players’ Representative

ROLE DESCRIPTION
The Players’ Representative is the officer on the Club Committee with responsibility for
relaying player issues to the Executive Committee, disseminating Club information back to
the players and encouraging players to become actively involved in non-playing aspects of the
Club.
REPORTS / ACCOUNTABLE TO:
Club Executive Committee.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. REPRESENT THE VIEWS OF THE PLAYERS AT EXECUTIVE MEETINGS
The Players’ Representative is responsible for making sure that any issues or requests that
have been raised by players are presented to the Executive Committee for consideration.
He / she must:
• Act as a primary point of contact for players within the Executive Committee.
• Represent the views of players at Executive Committee kevel.
2. DISSEMINATE CLUB INFORMATION TO THE PLAYERS
The Players’ Representative is responsible for ensuring that all pertinent information regarding Club issues is relayed to the players.
He / she must:
• Communicate effectively all relevant information on overall Club issues to the players.
• Ensure that they are proactive in remaining informed on Club activity, issues and decisions.
3. ENCOURAGE PLAYERS TO BECOME INVOLVED IN NON-PLAYING ASPECTS
To assist with day-to-day running of the Club, the Players’ Representative should encourage
players to become actively involved in non-playing aspects of the Club – be they
administrative, coaching related or otherwise.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Excellent leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong influencing and negotiation skills.
• Ability to operate as a spokesperson.
• The ability to respect confidentiality.
KNOWLEDGE:
• Be familiar with the functions of the Executive Committee.
• Have sound knowledge of the Association.
• Have experience of Committee involvement / people management.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
• Have the necessary time to fulfil the role effectively.
• Have a proactive approach in fulfilling the role,
• Have a strong rapport with the player group.
